Booga Booga Booga.....Meow!

So, I'm loving Halloween this year! Usually I stay home on Halloween Eve; the door bell forever quiet as we live on an island in a condo and few kids wander into our neighborhood looking for treats. But this Halloween I wandered the Haunted Halls of my school with my husband and granddaughter last Saturday night. Yesterday I delighted in the costumes of all the kids at school and even wore leopard tights, a short black skirt and a leopard turtleneck (cheetah woman) to get into the spirit of it all. Then last night I was invited to tour Strawberry Banke's Haunted Eve with the kids! What fun!

Yes, this is a head in a bowl. But was is startling is that the eyes wiggle back and forth and a strange voice speaks to you from the dark, otherwise silent looking decapitated specimen! Booga Booga.

And, check out this lovely horn-nosed green witch! Boil and toil.......

Ah, Mrs. Pumpkin head...always a treat.....

What a delightful family night out....

The Joy of Fall!

Forever, Fall is my favorite season...Spring a close second. Take a look at the colors just outside my back door. Olivia and I played ball for an hour in this glorious Autumn air. Life couldn't be better.

Willy Wonka and Pizza!

Last night my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed taking our granddaughter to her favorite place to dine out, Pizza Hut. She enjoyed a cheese personal pan pizza and pudding (vanilla AND chocolate). Then we went to my school where there was a Haunted House (Haunted Halls) and a Willy Wonka Hall! What fun!

Haunted Gingerbread House!

This weekend we celebrated one of my granddaughter's birthdays...4. Do you remember being 4? I think my Mom make me a fabulous doll cake. One of the few really amazing memories I have of my Mom. I have even fewer memories of my grandmother..well I do remember her flying off to Hawaii when she stopped taking her medicine, in search of Elvis...but that's way off topic. Anyway, for my granddaughter's birthday party she and I and grandpa made a Haunted Gingerbread House which turned out to be a big hit at the party yesterday. Here's the photographic evidence :)

Putting the sides and roof on!

Grandpa loved helping with the construction.

Ok, yah, this was a hit!
Look at the fabulous cake Daddy Gabe and Mommie made, as well....

Every piece of candy was taken off and eaten!

And that's all she wrote!

Art Fair

She smiled nervously from behind the tidy little display, showcasing her sparkley geckos and colorful fused glass necklaces. She wanted to sell all her handmade jewels and she didn't want to sell any of them. She loved each and every one of her creations and now people just passed by her booth, looking, deciding, sometimes buying....judging each one and turning away, or handing her a crisp $10 bill. When money was offered, she slipped it awkwardly into her wallet and then lovingly tucked each cheerful little piece of jewelry into it's sleek black box. Tying on the lavender bow she said, "Good bye,” to her little handmade treasures.
