Father and Son

This windy and chilly November weekend, my step-son spent a number of hours in our heated garage with his dad. They were working on this old truck. They are attempting to fix the gas tank. They have thought about it, pounded on it, fiddled with it. I guess in a moment of, "I'm going to pull my hair out, let's do something else!" they pulled out the hack saw and whacked off the sides of the bed! Alas, they will return to the project next weekend to get the old truck running. And, not to sound too much like a sappy Hallmark card, but I really love seeing how genuinely happy the two of them are working together on this old truck. I know how much they love spending time together and I am so happy they make the time to do that :)

  1. I agree that the time they spent together as father and soon is great. I wish the girls could have joined in too. Since daddy works all week and really doesnt get much one on one time with them. I think this Truck is going to be the "Money Pit" but all and all I hope it doesnt invole a lot more time away from the family fixing it up.

  2. Now I know you think this is romantic but do you know the REAL history of the Markley cars?? Ferd has a reputation and ask Rusty about the Chevette in the basement. Keeping these things running is SPORT for these guys LOL!!!

  4. I'm posting for Darlene, (a.k.a. Mother Outlaw) Hello from Michigan, Sandy and I also know the Markley tradition, never will forget when Ferd went all the way to California with a car we didn't think would make it. Rusty was always borrowing tools from his Father Outlaw just ask him how he had to put them back. LOL!! Get it running you two, Happy Holidays, Sandy and Darlene.

  5. Hey Darlene! I'll have to ask Ken about the tool borrowing :) Gabe and Ken share back and forth and just bought a bunch of tool boxes at Ace Hardware so they could organize all their toys (oops...I meant tools). I'm sure next weekend they will have figured out the gas tank and the old truck will back right out of our garage :)

  6. Sorry, don't remember a Chevette in the basement, are you sure it wasn't in Sandy's garage? Remember when you painted the old Olds for us!!
